DSL frequent disconnection : Temporary Fix

I am a BSNL subscriber in India and I've been using the DataOne broadband for the past 3 years. In recent days my DSL modem has been disconnecting frequently spoiling my browsing experience. I discovered that this is might be due to the faulty connection or long lines of connection from exchange, which results in loss of transmission quality. I have a ADSL splitter with two lines, one connected to phone and the other to modem. When this kind of problem occurred in the past, I used to adjust the splitter connection. But this time it didnt work. But I accidentally found out a temporary fix. If you experience the same problem and if you have a telephone line connected to splitter like mine, just pickup the phone receiver or place it aside until its connected. Believe me, it works for me, but I dont know how. By this way it worked for me ADSL Splitter

Ubuntu and GParted works magic with your corrupted pen drive

Few months back I thought of installing and ruining a ChromiumOS from my 8GB Transcend pen drive. So I downloaded the OS image from this site http://chromeos.hexxeh.net/ .The image was around 250 MB and it required 4GB to install. The instructions to install it was also mentioned in that site. I had windows so I chose to install it through Windows Image Writer tool, as instructed in the site. The tool warned me that any unintentional misuse may corrupt my drive. Anyway I proceeded and I installed the image in to the drive. Then I restarted the PC to boot from the pen drive. But when booting no bootable image was available in the pen drive. After several tries I gave up and booted in to Windows to erase the image in the pen drive and thereafter problem occurred. My computer could not recognize the pen drive. I tried a whole variety of tools like Partition Magic, HP Disk Format Utility, etc but in vain all of them pointed out that my pen drive has no drive letter assig

Could not open Selected VM debug port(8700) [Solved]

My Windows crashed this weekend so I switched over to Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) hoping to have the same( or even better) developing experience than in Windows 7. I planned this weekend for trying something new with the android animations but I had to totally rethink my plan. All my SDK ecosystem has been totally lost. Last time this happened was when my laptop crashed but this time its with my desktop(actually a laptop turned in to desktop, lets come to this later). It took me almost one day to download, install, update and configure the OS. Moreover I had to setup my Eclipse IDE and Android SDK which is an elaborative procedure. Anyway finally I had everything up and running. But I had to face a different kinda problem with Eclipse running in gnome. I believe its more specific to this gnome desktop but occasionally this problem occurs in Windows too it seems from the android forum posts. The issue is this 1)I run Eclipse. 2)Launch the emulator. 3)Now close th
