This is pretty much exposing post about the level of security issues in India. I’m not sure if this is practically being exploited to target broadband users in India. I’m going to show you the fun part here. Its up to the readers to act in an ethical way. First you need the Angry IP Scanner. Download it from here http://www.angryip.org/w/Download . This is a simple tool that scans for a range of Live IP Addresses and identifies user specified open ports. So I downloaded the 32-bit Beta version. This doesn’t require any installation. Just download and run it. When you open the tool you can see options to set IP ranges for scanning. I’m a BSNL Dataone Broadband user and I wanted to find out the vulnerable cameras in my locality. So I start with my IP Address. Just go to Google and Search ‘My IP’. You will get your IP address. By the way I’m not stopping you from find your IP using ipconfig command like a geek. Yes you read it right. Though I don’t have an official confirmation, I got to believe what I get. Here is my result from http://www.speedtest.net/ I subscribed to BSNL in 2007 under 750 Unlimited Plan. Under this plan you will get 256kbps speeds, which is relatively high at that time. But during the first inaugural season of IPL in 2008, all 750UL plan users were upgraded to 512kbps plan at no extra cost (For FREE!!!). That was a great gift that too for an unlimited plan user. You get to surf,download,watch and play all day long without worrying about data load for a decent speed. But now in an yet another surprising move, BSNL again upgraded 750UL plan to 1.5Mbps. God damn!! its not even 1Mbps, its 1.5 mbps. Unbelievable!!! Am I the only one getting this speed. Now I’m in love with BSNL(well known for their poor service). I am a BSNL subscriber in India and I've been using the DataOne broadband for the past 3 years. In recent days my DSL modem has been disconnecting frequently spoiling my browsing experience. I discovered that this is might be due to the faulty connection or long lines of connection from exchange, which results in loss of transmission quality. I have a ADSL splitter with two lines, one connected to phone and the other to modem. When this kind of problem occurred in the past, I used to adjust the splitter connection. But this time it didnt work. But I accidentally found out a temporary fix. If you experience the same problem and if you have a telephone line connected to splitter like mine, just pickup the phone receiver or place it aside until its connected. Believe me, it works for me, but I dont know how. By this way it worked for me ADSL Splitter
