Aadhaar Card Enrolment Process - A Quick Glance

Today I got enrolled for Aadhaar card provision in Kanchipuram. I just thought of coming up with a post on the procedure. Before that please ensure the below points while applying for Aadhaar card.: Male citizens wearing round neck shirts or t-shirts were not allowed to enroll. So you better get dressed up in a collared outfit. As a proof of identity and for easy processing the agents require you to have your Census receipt and Ration card with you. Each family will have a census receipt issued earlier during Census 2011 by the Government. The receipt will have NPR ( National Population Registry ) Number. This number has all the preliminary information like number of family members and their name, address and the contact number. The census receipts look like this. You can optionally provide your Bank account number during the enrolment process to be associated with your details. I will recommend this as it would help in future verification scenarios. So better have your bank acc

How to remove zero values from Office Excel graph / chart?

No matter in version of MS Office you are working with, this simple trick will always work. Lets get to the topic straight. Here is a table I have for which I need to draw a graph. We have zero values for two cities - Narnia and Atlantis (Assuming that everyone is wiped out in zombie apocalypse). City Population in Millions Chennai 243 Bangalore 527 Narnia 0 Atlantis 0 Mumbai 457 Delhi 23 Kolkata 10 Here is the typical graph we generated in excel for the above table. One thing that looks un-presentable in this chart is the zero values at the bottom of the pie chart. Here are the steps to remove the zero values. Right-click on any of the data labels (the numbers representing the population here) and select Format Data Labels . A Pop-Up for Format Data Labels will open. In that navigate to Number tab. In Number tab under Category , select Custom and enter the Format Code as below 0;;; Click Add and Close the window. Now your graph will look

A Letter to Honda about Poor After Sales Service in Pratham Agencies

I am one of the hundreds of frustrated Honda Customers from Kanchipuram. So I decided to write a mail to Honda about this. No matter in which city you are, if you are affected like me by the dealers who dont give a damn about customers, just write to Honda here http://www.honda2wheelersindia.com/contact.aspx . Here is my letter to Honda. Dear Honda, If you really want to sustain a customer base in Kanchipuram please switch over your dealership to someone other than Pratham Honda. This guys are simply being monopolistic. Like myself hundreds of Honda customers are frustrated with the customer care and after sales service support of this agency. Free services were done for name sake. I even wonder if they really change my engine oil every time I went for free service. I still remember the first day when I went to the showroom to enquire about Honda Twister, a frustrated customer was whining about the after sales service, I didnt take it seriously otherwise I would have gone to Yam

Forgotten Piece of History from Kanchipuram

If you have visited Kanchipuram you would have heard about the town being spiritually divided in to two territories - Siva Kanchi and Vishnu Kanchi. Siva Kanchi was historically dominated by worshippers of Lord Shiva and is famous for Ekambaranathar Temple, Kamakshi Amman Temple and Kumara Kottam, whereas Vishnu Kanchi is dominated by worshippers of Lord Vishnu with Varadharaja Perumal Temple being its holy centre. Even today this division is followed for administrative purposes with Siva Kanchi and Vishnu Kanchi having its own Police station. But most of the visitors may not be aware of Jaina Kanchi. Jaina Kanchi is basically the region in and around the village of Thiruparuthikundram, nearby Kanchipuram. The prominent temple in this region is Jeenaswamy Trilokyanathar Temple. Unlike the holy shrines of Shiva or Vishnu this temple didn't get much attention. Currently its being administrated by Tamilnadu Archaelogical Department and maintained by villagers. Here is an excerpt f

Whats really going on in the Middle East?

There is a complex web of political events happening around Middle East in this decade. It so complex that it even puzzles the political observers. I’d like to point out in this article some of the recent developments in Middle East in the year 2012. Syria – To start with Syria, there is an ongoing agitation by the Syria Rebels aka Free Syrian Army against Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad. The rebels want to end the regime of Assad. Its been alleged that the Western powers are supplying the rebels with weapons and other supports all in the name of Democracy to topple Assad. But why is US and her allies are so keen to remove Assad? Because the present Syrian Government is a key ally of Iran and Russia in the Middle East. So crippling Syria would be a huge blow to Iran and Russia. Iran – If US is opposing Syria for its alliance with Iran, what terrible thing did Iran do? Iran did what previously Iraq and Libya tried to do. Yes Iran stopped selling oil in US Dollar. US domina

How to open a PDF file using ICEpdf Viewer from your Java Application?

Few weeks back I designed an application, where I wanted to display Help content through a PDF file rather than through a textbox in a JPanel, because the help content had complex formula stuffs. So I thought of embedding the PDF file with my swing application itself. But it was too tricky to learn in a short span of time. So I figured out two options to display the help content. By opening the PDF file using a native PDF Reader in the system, on click of the Help Button in my Java Swing application. By opening the PDF file using a PDF reader integrated with my application jar package, on click of the Help Button in my Java Swing application. I dont want to discourage the readers, but to be frank the above two methods didnt work for one bad reason. You need the absolute path of the PDF file to be used in the source code. One solution would be to load a PDF file from a Web link. Another solution would be to use an installation wizard (See here ) for your Java application to plac
